Disney adds more PVOD payment options for ‘Mulan’

It’s no longer just exclusive to the Disney+ website.

All of us know the story of the upcoming live-action Mulan. Short story; It was destined for theatres, then it was shipped off to Disney+ instead for an additional price.

Although, what you probably didn’t know is that paying for Mulan was going to be on Disney’s own website at Disneyplus.com. No other platform was listed, meaning if you watch Disney+ on your iPhone or on Roku you couldn’t pay for the title on those platforms through the streaming service app itself. You would have to pay for Mulan externally on the Disney+ website before you can proceed to watch the title you paid for on your Disney+ account.

However, that was the way to do it – until today. Disney has added more platforms that you can pay for Mulan on, including Apple, Google and Roku, making purchasing for consumers more easier and accessible.

“The implication is Disney+ subscribers will be able to use in-app purchase on Apple, Google and Roku devices rather than having to buy on Disneyplus.com and then return to the device of choice”.

Disney’s decision to implement further payment options is a little surprising, considering its move to Disney+ was that the company didn’t had to share profits for its Premier Access title when it was meant to be played in reduced capacity theatres. But in doing so, now means Disney is sharing a portion of the profits, usually 20-30% cut, for Mulan to these new platforms added; such as Apple, Google and Roku, and a further implication of movie theatres hurting without blockbuster flicks like Mulan.
