Box Office Report: Nothing can stop ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ in its third weekend

Fast approaching $2 billion! Big China debut! Nothing can stop Avengers: Infinity War at the box office!

In its third weekend, Infinity War continues to dominate the American box office with a weekend gross of $61.8 million. This puts Infinity War as the fourth biggest third weekend, behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($90.2 million), Avatar ($68.5 million), and other Marvel hit Black Panther ($66.3 million). The total for Infinity War is currently at $547.8 million, so far the eighth biggest release in America.

While Infinity War is doing phenomenally well in America, its also doing massive numbers globally as well. During its opening weekend in China, Infinity War opened to a marvelous $200 million, which is the biggest opening ever in China! It has outgrossed the entire theatrical runs for nearly every Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie over there – except for one; with Avengers: Age of Ultron ($240.1 million) being the exception.

Infinity War skyrocketed up the charts with a current total of $1.60 billion worldwide, and becoming the biggest release for an MCU film ever! It tops the six year record held by The Avengers ($1.51 billion). This puts Infinity War as the fifth highest grossing release of all-time, and reaching for a chance to become a lifetime member as part of the rare $2 billion club, where only three films have ever done so!

Black Panther continues to inch itself towards the $700 million mark in America. It grossed an additional $1.9 million this weekend, still in the top ten if you can believe it! Black Panther has made a current total of $696.2 million. Its very close to become the third film ever in America to reach $700 million, but with the Blu-ray release this Tuesday, it may have a tough time to do so!

Worldwide, Black Panther ($1.341.4 billion) is marginally close to top Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 ($1.341.5 billion). By next weekend, it will have done so to become the ninth highest grossing film of all-time.
