The king has returned with its first 4K release!
Buena Vista Australia has announced that The Lion King will make its way to 4K Ultra HD for the first time on December 12th.
However, there seems to be two different versions available at different retailers, but what’s odd is that none are retailer exclusives! Is it an image error? Is the cover art still an early design? All could be likely, and we’ll update once the final version nears release.
Below is the cover art for the 4K Ultra HD from Amazon, which is also posted on Sanity, which seems to only contain the 4K disc as of writing:
Whereas the JB Hi-Fi 4K Ultra HD version (image below) contains both the 4K disc and as well as the Blu-ray disc which will contain the bonus features only on that disc. It’s not known if the Blu-ray disc is the yet to be released Signature Edition version or the regular Diamond Edition Blu-ray that’s been re-issued a few times in Australia.
