Director attached to ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel

All I can say is that it’s about time this happens!

Marvel Studios has finally started to move forward with a sequel to Doctor Strange, which starred Benedict Cumberbatch as the sorcerer supreme Doctor Strange.

Marvel has attached Scott Derrickson to direct the sequel. Derrickson is no stranger to Doctor Strange as he previously directed the first film. Cumberbatch will more than likely be returning to his famous role, considering his had three on-screen appearances in the MCU thus far, along with Benedict Wong and Rachel McAdams.

The first Doctor Strange film was a box office success back in 2016 with over $677 million worldwide, which at that time was the second highest grossing superhero origin film for the MCU.

I’m finally glad that the idea of a Doctor Strange sequel isn’t being forgotten over at Marvel Studios (nevertheless why would I have thought of something like that), but given that it would have been five years by the time the sequel comes out with a rumoured 2021 release date, this will no doubt be the longest gap for an MCU sequel.

Now, can Scarlet Witch participate in this sequel too Marvel?
